3 of top 5 record-breaking days at Austin airport happened during 2023 SXSW

AUSTIN (KXAN) – On Sunday, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport provided information on the number of passengers entering and leaving the airport since the start of the 2023 South by Southwest Conference and Festival.
Three of the spring/SXSW travel dates are in the top 10 for AUS record-breaking days so far, the airport said. These days include the 2nd of March 10th, the 3rd of March 13th and the 5th of March 12th.
“Passenger numbers have been high and the airport has been managing the high volume of passengers very smoothly. The preparations and additional staffing done by the airport and our partners have paid off,” airport officials said.
The average number per day is over 30,000.

The airport said it expects a large number of travelers this week for the PGA Championship. AUS also said it was also considering the impact of spring break on travel.
“It is not expected to be as busy as SXSW, but it will still be higher than usual passenger numbers,” airport officials added of the upcoming travel numbers.
