5 Star Players who will Play their Last FIFA World Cup in Qatar

The FIFA World Cup kicks off in Qatar on November 20. All eyes will be on the prestigious event as 32 of the world’s best nations battle it out to see who will become the new world champion.

The World Cup is being held in the Middle East for the first time, with all participating nations hoping to make it to the final, which will be held at the iconic Lusail Stadium on December 18 this year.

With another edition of the prestigious competition looming, yet another group of great players will compete in their final World Cup this winter.

So without further ado, here are five top footballers who will be playing their final World Cup.

Lionel Messi

The Argentine superstar will do his best to lead his country to victory throughout what is expected to be his last World Cup in Qatar. Argentina are in red-hot form right now, so Lionel Messi has every reason to be optimistic about his side’s chances of success in December. At 35, he isn’t getting any younger, so this may very well be his last chance to become world champion.

Cristiano Ronaldo

This will be the last World Cup for the 37-year-old Portuguese superstar. We can therefore expect Ronaldo to be eager to lead his country into a long-term cup run in Qatar. With the likes of Diogo Jota, Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Neves playing alongside him, the Portugal legend will be hungry for goals when the World Cup kicks off next month.

Robert Lewandowski

Even at the age of 34, the Polish striker is still an excellent finisher in front of opponents’ goal. This will likely also be Lewandowski’s last World Cup, so it’s safe to say he will be Poland’s best hope for success later in the year.

Luka Modric

Luka Modric Croatia played an important role in the final of the last FIFA World Cup. The 37-year-old is now hoping that history will repeat itself so he can lead his country to the final and possibly even overcome the odds to win the prestigious trophy in what is believed to be his last World Cup appearance.

Neuer will once again represent Germany in this year’s World Cup. The 36-year-old will be eager to mark his final appearance in the tournament by helping Germany through to the latter rounds of the World Cup.
