football insider Sources revealed on Tuesday (7 March) that Arsenal are still chasing Caicedo’s signing despite Brighton raising their asking price to more than £90m.
McManus has questioned the “ridiculous” amount of money spent in the Premier League and insists Arsenal already have better midfield options at the club.
“England’s money is absolutely ridiculous, unbelievable – £90m for Brighton playersMcManus told football insider Sean Fisher.
“I don’t think he’s better than what Arsenal already have.
“To be honest, I watched Xhaka come back to life under Arteta – he was very, very good.
“I thought he was going out.
“Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard make up their midfield – Caicedo is not ahead of them for me, and then they have Jorginho.
“I think for that amount of money Arsenal need someone who can come in immediately and improve the team.
“Before the contract was signed, they were negotiating about half that price, so now that he has committed his future to Brighton, if I were Arsenal I would walk away from negotiations.“
