Goncalo Ramos closely watched by Manchester United says Fabrizio Romano – Man United News And Transfer News

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Manchester United are keeping tabs on Benfica striker Gonzalo Ramos.

The Portugal star drew attention during the World Cup in Qatar, becoming the youngest player since Pele to score a hat-trick in a final.

He also had a fantastic season for his club, scoring 12 goals in 15 league appearances.

And, despite Romano reiterating that United are unlikely to shell out big money in this transfer window, he has included him in the club’s short-list for the summer to add to their forward line.

“As I always say, for Osimhen, Kane, Ramos… we have to wait for the summer. Nothing will happen now,” the reliable reporter said in his daily briefing.

“United are monitoring a number of strikers but nothing concrete or advanced right now; they sent their scouts to UCL games for Ramos, but nothing else at the moment.”

While Victor Ossimhen and Harry Kane have been listed as top targets elsewhere, headwinds could make it difficult to acquire either of these players.

In Osimhen’s case, reports of an asking price of 140 million euros could keep the Nigerian away from United, even with a substantial investment.

Meanwhile, Kane is reportedly open to staying at Tottenham, even if his contract situation becomes more precarious for his club.

Ramos could provide a good option and is known to be a player that Eric ten Hager admires.

The Portuguese striker is energetic and hard-working, perfect for the pressure the manager wants to put on United.

He also provides an aerial threat, which is obviously important for Ten Hag as he acquired Wout Weghorst as a stopgap for the remainder of the season.
