Manchester loanee Amad Diallo scores for Sunderland in Championship draw with Luton Town – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo saved a point for Sunderland in their Championship clash with Luton Town this afternoon.

It looked like the Black Cats were heading for defeat until the Ivory Coast international scored from a late penalty.

Luton took the lead early in the second half, but Sunderland took a deserved point thanks to a penalty fight from Ahmad.

The 20-year-old’s shot high into the top corner with five minutes remaining was a fine penalty.

That keeps Sunderland’s play-off hopes all but alive, seven points behind Millwall, who occupy the final play-off spot.

Amad returned to Sunderland today after missing the last two games with a minor muscle injury.

The Ivorian came on as a substitute for Tony Mowbray but came on before the break and was responsible for the equaliser.

The penalty score underscored the youngster’s confidence in the game as he grabbed the ball in front of his more experienced team-mates.

Amad has had a good season at Wearside and will no doubt catch Erik Ten Hag’s attention during his loan spell at Erik Ten Hag.

His form has earned him an international call-up and Mowbray will be hoping he will be fit enough to fire Sunderland into the playoffs.

Amad has made nine appearances for United since his move from Atalanta, scoring once against AC Milan in the Europa League.
