Manchester United and England left-back Luke Shaw was asked to pick his favorite World Cup goal ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
According to reports manutd.comIn the 2014 Championship, Shaw scored a goal with the help of the former Reds.
An incredible header from Robin van Persie, assisted by a diagonal pass from Daley Blind, was Shaw’s winner in the Netherlands’ 5-1 win over Spain.
“I think I was most impressed by Daley Blind and Robin van Persie, obviously because I thought they were both playing for Manchester United at the time,” he said.
It was a goal rife with United links, not only from the creators on the pitch but also from Louis van Gaal, who was in charge of the Netherlands that day.
Van Gaal joined Manchester United after the 2014 Finals.
Shaw added that Daley Blind was particularly pleased with his role in the goal, something Shaw also spoke about at Old Trafford.
“I thought that goal was unbelievable. Daly was very happy with his pass, he talked about it when he was here. I think I have to pick that goal because it was a very incredible goal. ” He says.
Without a doubt, this is one of the most iconic goals in World Cup history. The image of Van Persie flying up and down the air with a fantastically impromptu header past Iker Casillas will forever be remembered.

Shaw will want Harry Kane et al. Something similar could be produced for England in the coming weeks as the Three Lions look to make their mark in Qatar.
England and Shaw got off to a perfect start to the World Cup with a 6-2 win over Iran in their Group B opener, with Shaw in action.
If England beat the US tonight, they will be guaranteed a place in the knockout stages.
