NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Metro police charged a man with allegedly smashing a woman’s car in a Walgreens parking lot on Bell Road Thursday morning.
According to an arrest testimony, Daniel Rutledge approached a woman who had turned on her car’s headlights and asked her to turn them off, which she did.
However, when she turned them back on shortly after, Rutledge allegedly got upset and smashed her car with a hammer.
Rutledge “broke the windshield, smashed two headlights, and caused bodily damage to the vehicle,” the affidavit said.
The victim told officers that the man was “very unsteady on his feet and slurred while yelling at her.”
Rutledge then left the parking lot, but a witness followed him and called police.
When officers found Rutledge, they claimed he was slurring and unsteady on his feet. They also said he declined a field sobriety test.
Rutledge was detained and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
