Manchester United legend Paul Scholes backed Jadon Sancho to replace Anthony at Wembley when the Red Devils faced Manchester City on June 3.
Scholes spoke in the Premier League following Manchester United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday night.
Goals from Casemiro, Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford were enough to give United all three points and secure Champions League qualification in the process.
While he didn’t make it into the scoring charts, Sancho was brilliant against the Blues.
He initially started on the left side of the attack, with Marcus Rashford thought to be out of shape. However, Sancho moved to the right after Anthony was injured after the Brazilian collided with Trevor Chalobah.
Sancho is United’s main creative spark. He assisted Martial’s goal and crowned his performance. After the assist, his performance was a huge improvement over recent games.
Eric ten Haag described Anthony’s injury as “severe”, but the United boss did not elaborate further on the nature of the setback or how long Anthony will be out.
Scholes passed express delivery Sancho is perfectly capable of replacing Antony.
“You have to play with players and sometimes you get a little bit unlucky and he was unlucky tonight with Anthony,” said the former United midfielder.
“But he has some good players to add. Rashford came off the bench tonight and I think Sancho looks as good as he has been all season.”
“I’m a bit sad that the season has to end for him. [Sancho], he looks fit, he looks slender, he looks slender, he looks fast, and he looks confident. “
Scholes added, “So I think he can go to the final.”
