Shooting at Jackson Reed High School in Washington DC today

According to reports, the lockdown was lifted after the incident for the safety of the people. Jackson-Reed High School in the Tenleytown area went into lockdown at 4pm on Friday. The area happens to be in Northwest Washington. After the incident, the school was temporarily closed due to the police activity area. Police are investigating the area and trying to figure out what happened. The superintendent of DC Public Schools said the area was cordoned off as police were investigating the incident.

Police are now working to obtain evidence in order to apprehend the suspect. “Sounds of bullets fired were heard near the educational facility,” officials said. Other schools were put on alert after hearing the bullets, including Murch Elementary, Lafayette Elementary and Deal Middle School. On the afternoon of Friday, November 18, 2022, school officials stated that “all educational institutions are on alert and we are working to identify the suspect.”

Who is the suspect?

The police are trying to identify the suspect and for this they are looking at every corner of the school. According to DC police, someone dropped off a resource officer at the high school. As we already mentioned above, the school was identified as Jackson-Reed High School, previously known as Woodrow Wilson High School. District of Columbia police said gunshots were heard around 2:45 p.m. Commander Metropolitan Police Sergeant Duncan Bedleyon said, “As soon as we learned of the incident, we rushed to the time and place immediately and soon learned that a person had opened fire near the school.”

The suspect was in a vehicle, a black Infinity sedan, after the bullets were fired. Many other people were also sitting in the car, the report said. As of now, police do not have details of the suspect and are trying to check CCTV footage so they can learn some details about the suspect.
