Texarkana Texas Whataburger employee’s tip leads to arrest of 79-year-old for indecency with a child

Texarkana, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — Texarkana Whataburger employees helped a teen who she claims was inappropriately touched by a man who offered to pay for sex.

a post on TTPD Facebook page The arrest of Michael Clarke, 79, was announced Thursday morning after they obtained a warrant for his arrest on charges of child molestation and abetting prostitution.

Employees at the Whataburger restaurant on New Boston Road called 911 just after noon Tuesday to report an underage female dining with an older man. “There seems to be something wrong with the situation,” the employee told police.

It soon became apparent that Clark and the child barely knew each other, police said.

The 13-year-old told police that Clark offered her money for sexual favors that day and touched her inappropriately in another encounter weeks before the Whataburger incident.

Before the pair left for Whataburger that morning, Clark allegedly walked down the street and picked up the girl in his truck.

Police arrested Clark on Wednesday and he is being held at the Twin State Penitentiary on $225,000 bond.
