Texas man indicted; Feds find 500 child-porn videos on Google account

Weslaco, Texas (Valley Central) – A Texas man has been indicted after federal investigators found more than 500 child pornography videos on his Google account.

Gino Graydon Garcia of Weslaco was indicted on Nov. 15 on charges of transporting child pornography, producing child pornography and possessing child pornography, federal records show.

The Rio Grande Valley Child Exploitation Task Force, led by Homeland Security Investigations, received a “referral for investigation” on March 22, a criminal complaint said. The complaint alleges that the recommendation was generated by Google and that it involved a suspect uploading a file of child exploitation material to their Google account.

HSI received a search warrant for the account and recovered multiple videos and images of child sexual abuse material. The complaint states that in one video, Garcia used a video chat room application called “ShowMe” to contact a child aged 5 to 7 in Indonesia.

In the video, Garcia can be seen rubbing his genitals before typing “let’s be friends” into the chat box, the indictment said.

“Google accounts are stored on Google servers located in the Northern District of California, outside of Texas,” the complaint states. “As a result, the child pornography video was transmitted outside of Texas when uploaded to the suspect’s account.”

A warrant was issued for Garcia on Oct. 17, the same day he was arrested in Muscatine, Iowa, records show.

Garcia’s arraignment and detention hearing is scheduled for Nov. 28.
