Two firefighters injured after east side car repair shop fire – Brospar Daily News

INDIANAPOLIS — Two firefighters were injured Saturday after officials said a car caught fire and spread to the building.

Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters respond to the Golden Rule auto property on the 6000 block of Massachusetts Avenue around 5 p.m.

Employees at Taller Los Amigos, which rented space from Golden Rule Automotive, told firefighters that a car that was working on a fully extended elevator caught fire.

Employees were unable to extinguish the fire and evacuate the building. The ceiling caught fire and the fire spread throughout the building, the IFD said.

A wall eventually collapsed and the fire was brought under control about an hour after crews arrived.

One injured firefighter was examined at the scene and returned to work, while another was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with an eye injury, according to the IFD.

No employees were injured and the fire was ruled an accident.
